On May 9, the awarding ceremony for Jilin Province’s swimming training base and the establishment of the provincial swimming team were held in Changchun. This marks the official launch of the province’s first provincial-level professional swimming training base and a historic breakthrough from “zero to one” for the provincial professional swimming team, providing a professional development platform for swimming talent cultivation and competitive level enhancement.
During the event, Jia Ning, deputy director of the Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau, on behalf of the bureau, formally awarded the “Jilin Province Swimming Training Base” plaque to the Changchun Workers’ Cultural Palace and the Municipal Workers’ Sports Activity Center. As the province’s first professional training hub focused on swimming, the base will offer athletes standardized training facilities and supporting infrastructure.
Gong Jinjie, another deputy director of the bureau, stated that the establishment of the professional swimming team and the launch of the training base have created a full-chain system from talent selection, scientific training, to competition preparation. She encouraged all coaches and athletes to train diligently, strive for excellence, and achieve outstanding results in various competitions.
Cui Weiguo, a second-level inspector from the Changchun Federation of Trade Unions, said the union will fully support the base’s venue operations and logistics services, continuously deepen the collaboration mechanism between sports and labor unions, and safeguard the growth and success of swimming talents, contributing to the high-quality development of Jilin’s swimming cause.
At the ceremony, the swimming team athletes took a solemn oath facing the team flag.
